The favorite car of Canadians may soon have its hybrid version. Honda has just revealed the first images of the model that is likely to make a splash upon its arrival in the market.
Recently dethroned by the Toyota Corolla, the Honda Civic has long been the best-selling car in Canada. Unfortunately, Honda has significantly expanded the Civic lineup in recent years, which seems to be the cause of the declining popularity of the model. However, the arrival of the hybrid version is likely to tip the balance for the Japanese compact car.
A first update
Already, some aesthetic differences can be observed between the 2025 Civic and last year's model. The brand's designers have allowed themselves some touches, especially to the front bumper. The sedan also benefits from a new set of seven-spoke wheels. These improvements will not be unique to the hybrid version, as they apply to all versions of the model.
For the rest, there are not really any significant changes. The Honda Civic 2025 will still be available in sedan or hatchback versions. There is no indication that a two-door coupe version will be added to the lineup at the moment. However, it is worth noting that the Japanese manufacturer recently presented the new Prelude as a concept. It would not be impossible for it to officially take the place of a two-door Civic.
A hybrid engine
The Honda Civic is a popular car for good reason. It is enjoyable to drive, functional, and well-equipped. However, there was clearly a lack of an electrified version in the model's lineup, and that's what the Japanese manufacturer offers with this new hybrid version.
Since it's Honda, the engineers haven't ventured too far for the choice of the powertrain. Indeed, they have essentially taken the same two-motor powertrain found in the Accord Hybrid and the CR-V Hybrid. However, Honda has not yet revealed specific details about the displacement of the Atkinson cycle engine or even the accompanying data.
It's coming!
